I slept like crap last week when I worked nights. Then I worked the weekend, as it seems that is just how things work out EVERY TIME. Whatever. I enjoyed a nap at work after I found a blanket stashed in Bennett’s desk. When I was about to leave, I talked to my dad, who wanted to know if I would help him do some silk floral arranging. He had bought an old wooden bucket and wanted to make a fall arrangement…we went to Michaels’ and wandered around trying to pick out silk flowers for quite a while, then decided to just give it a go and return whatever we didn’t end up using.
After Michaels’, I took my dad into Burlington Coat Factory (since it is next door to Michaels’), where he said things like, “Look at all the blacks and Pakistanis…that’s how you know these prices must be good.” We did not buy anything there, but we sent Brian a bunch of pictures of Indians/Cavs things to see if he liked any of them. The best part was when my dad picked out an Indians shirt with the old school racist Indian on it and said, “Brian will like this,” but Brian was quick with his response that it was racist, so no he didn’t want it.
Our attempt at actually arranging the flowers we bought was not super great and took a long time, and it also made me feel kind of inadequate as a lady and person who enjoys crafty endeavors. I will take a picture of the end product the next time I go out to my dad’s, but it was passable at best. I should have googled ‘how to arrange silk flowers.’
I was hoping to get a nap in before the UT-BG game, but it was not to be. I headed up to UT at 5 by myself (we needed to go in separate cars since I was on call) and retardedly parked in the East garage, so I sat in traffic at that entrance to campus/the garage for about 1/2 an hour due to UT-BG craziness. There were so many people everywhere…I think the game ended up being a sellout.
Tailgating was crazy…room for chairs and hangin’/chillin’ was kind of scarce, but we didn’t want to miss eating the Subway and potato salad that Bossman brought. Good times were had by all, minus possibly the dude who got hit by a car in Lot 10, which I learned about later on the Rocket message board.
So after last season’s Fan Plan tickets near the cannon of drunken danger, I was told to get tickets that were closer to the middle and higher was OK. We ended up pretty much on the 50 yard line, but we’re about 8 rows from the top. That wouldn’t be too bad except for the stadium light poles.
At some point during the game, the pole was the “fumble pole,” as some sweet fumbly action happened right where we could not see it. Mostly I was annoyed that it ruined my TOLEDO flag picture:
UT beat BG, which is always nice, and there were fun things like fireworks and pump-up videos narrated by Morgan Freeman. FOOTBALL!
